Actor Announces New Calling As Preacher

Popular Nollywood actor, Yul Edochie, has announced a significant shift in his life, revealing that he has embraced a calling from God to actively participate in His work and share the gospel. This news comes after Edochie teased a major announcement on his social media platforms, leaving fans in anticipation, he announced that he has answered the call of God by becoming a full-time preacher. Edochie had earlier told fans that he would make the biggest announcement of his life.

Hours later on Instagram, he revealed that he would be doing the work of God fully as he started a Christian programme on YouTube, which he called 'True Salvation Ministry'.

He wrote "It's time to answer the call of God almighty. It's time to do his work fully. To spread the true message of God. Tune in, and be transformed."

Following the reveal, Edochie unveiled his online ministry named "True Salvation Ministry," where he will be delivering sermons and spreading the word of God. This marks a new chapter for the renowned actor, who has been a prominent figure in the Nigerian film industry for many years.

Edochie's decision to enter the ministry has garnered mixed reactions from the public. Some have expressed their support and commended him for following his calling, while others have questioned his motives and raised concerns about the legitimacy of online ministries.

Days before announcing the ministry, Yul condemned prosperity preachers via his YouTube channel. "The most important teaching of God is love. Unfortunately, that important teaching is the least preached in our society today. Almost everybody is preaching prosperity," Yul preached.

Edochie, who is the son of legendary actor Pete Edochie, joined Nollywood in 2005 and has starred in over 100 movies. He is also a film director, producer, and politician. He ran for governor of Anambra State in 2017 under the Democratic Peoples Congress party.

Edochie is married to May Aligwe and has three sons and a daughter. He also has a second wife, Judy Austin, and a newborn son, whom he revealed in April 2022.
